fairmount row home, philadelphia, pa
Completion Date: Spring 2007
In its original form, this circa-1900 row home measured 14 feet wide and two stories high. In 2004, Rasmussen/Su renovated the first floor, opening the rear of the home to the outdoors with custom-made doors. Two years later, the firm undertook a more ambitious project: adding a third floor. A modern stair joined the new construction with the old, juxtaposing bamboo steps and steel railings against original Victorian woodwork and heartwood pine floors.
